Waddesdon Manor
Waddesdon Manor is a fascinating stately home with beautiful gardens and lots to see and do.
Four generations of the Rothschild family have put their mark on Waddesdon and it is a coherent expression of their passions. Neither a museum nor an academic institution, it shares characteristics with both, including a strong commitment to research and disseminating knowledge, and an international outlook.
Waddesdon has one of the finest Victorian gardens in Britain, famous for its Parterre, seasonal displays, shady walks and views, fountains and statuary.
It was laid out by Baron Ferdinand to provide a change of mood or spectacle at every turn to delight his guests. In his day, a garden tour would include the Aviary, the ornamental Dairy, romantic Pulham grottoes and a menagerie of deer, goats and llamas. Now, the garden is renowned for its innovative planting schemes and restoration of major Victorian features such as three-dimensional carpet bedding. It also contains a small but important collection of contemporary sculpture.

Leighton Buzzard Railway Ltd
We operate what is probably the only substantial survivor of the large number of 2 foot (610mm) gauge light railways built in Britain for industrial use.
Opened in 1919 to transport sand, the line has carried a steam-hauled passenger train service since 1968, and now houses one of the largest and most important collections of narrow-gauge stock in the country. Both the collection and the railway itself are covered by our Accredited Museum designation.
